Flat Roofing

Dunn Contracting is a roofing company that installs flat roofs on residential homes.

Insulating options:
These are important options often disregarded. Rigid or Tapered insulations are critical for achieving slope for drainage and energy savings for roofs which do not comply with such specifications.

Modified Bitumen:
These are the "creme de la creme" in the asphalt applications. Such products are upgraded with SBS rubber additives ensuring physical endurance through better expansion, flexibility, higher fire rating and self-sealing options. Modified Bitumen can be installed with traditional hot asphalt or cold applied adhesives. Be sure to ask about Modified Bitumen upgrades when your next roof is installed.
Modified Bitumen or “modbit” membranes consist of an asphalt and polymer blend which allow the asphalt to take on characteristics of the polymer. There are several surfacing option for this system which include a factory applied mineral surface, a gravel surface laid in bitumen or a liquid applied coating that is typically reflective in nature. Typical lifespan of a modified bitumen roof is 10 to 20 years depending on weather conditions.
Dunn Contracting uses the best Modified Bitinum available. We use Polyglass

Polyglass manufactures a wide variety of APP and SBS modified asphalt roofing membranes reinforced with polyester and/or fiberglass mat offering excellent tensile strength and dimensional stability. Polyglass roof membrane plies are designed to precisely fit your needs.

APP modified:
Polyglass' APP (Atactic Polypropylene) modified asphalt roofing membranes are reinforced with polyester and/or fiberglass mat offering excellent tensile strength and dimensional stability. Polyglass APP membranes can be heat-welded or cold-applied and are meant to be applied directly over an acceptable substrate or as part of a multi-ply system.

Consider modified bitumen as a combination of the previous two materials. Modified bitumen consists of multiple layers of tar or asphalt that has been combined with polymers similar to those found in single-ply applications. Modified bitumen is applied in rolls. We use "hot" a method for adhesion, such as torches (open flame).
SBS modified
Self-Adhering Cap Sheet is a durable, modified bitumen membrane designed and manufactured to meet industry and code requirements. The product is designed for use as a waterproofing membrane and is reinforced with a polyester mat, which is coated with a polymer-modified asphalt. The cap Sheet is a granule-surfaced roofing membrane designed to be used with a self-adhering base/ply sheet to provide long-lasting protection for the low-slope areas of your property. Self-Adhering systems are applied with out torches, open flames, hot asphalt, or messy solvent-based adhesives.

Polyglass' SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) modified asphalt, roofing membranes are reinforced with polyester and/or fiberglass mat offering superior flexibility, excellent tensile strength and dimensional stability. Polyglass' SBS modified bitumen membranes are meant to be part of a multi-ply roof system.

Peel & Seal type roof systems are the ideal solution for hundreds of uses ranging from full-roof-applications to difficult waterproofing areas.

Specialized applications include dormers, sunroom additions, “open” porches, storage and agricultural buildings, and mobile home roofs. It also solves waterproofing problems around chimneys, vents, ducts and other irregular features. Help protect your investment.

What are the advantages of a Self-Adhering Roofing system?
Self-adhering roofing systems offer several advantages for contractors: no torches, no hot asphalt, no fumes and no mess — all of which means application is much cleaner and faster. Self-adhering roofs are also environmentally friendly because there are no volatile organic compounds in the material. These advantages are even more amazing considering the long system life you can expect.
